With Fashion Week shining bright around the city this week, I wanted to step back and think about the exciting creativity + dedication other New Yorkers are into at the moment…with a fashion influence, of course! So when I saw these fantastic shots of one of my best friends, Jamie Barnes, on Insta + Facebook wearing these insanely beautiful pieces, it was a must I tracked the artist down to see how this magic was inspired + created. Hola!

Everyone, say Bonjour + Hola to the talented NYC based artist, Juliana Lazzaro! Exposed to the art world at an early age, Juliana followed her passion and quickly began to paint things that inspired her, which then led to them being featured in galleries galore. And whether it be the light shining into her bedroom at dawn or the way a building’s roof aligns with the sky, she constantly takes inspiration from the color + architecture and transforms her talent into her work.

But Juliana doesn’t stop there. After capturing all that inspires, she recently decided to take her work and express it onto high end clothing. Whether it be Missoni jeans or an Oscar dress (found at Morilee dresses online at Peaches Boutique), she can replicate any of her canvases onto any piece. Best part? Every piece she takes to another level of dimension is one of a kind + complements any statements you currently have in your closet. Bonjour!
Being the one who gets overly excited about everything and all behind the scenes, I asked Juliana if there was a possibility for me to come to her studio. It was beyond all things creative and totally inspiring! Dedication was an understatement. Housing canvases from the very beginning + color statements galore, I couldn’t have been more excited to sit in on a photo shoot of Jamie that day wearing a skirt Juliana had literally just finished before I arrived!

We pranced towards Chinatown before the sunset and decided to start shooting at Juliana’s favorite wall on Elizabeth Street {hehe hola!}. With the colors + graffiti exposed, it was the perfect background to let the skirt be the vibrant focal point!

One of my favorite things about this expression of art is that when you flaunt one of Juliana’s pieces no one else will ever be able to make the same statement.
