Steamin’ Up A Clam Bake

With it being almost time to say “toodle-loo!” to sweet summertime, I couldn’t help but look back and reminisce about my favorite moments under the sun! Outside concerts in Central Park? Loved it! Party times in the Hamptons? So fab! But what was my favorite memory of all this summer? That would be attending my first ever New England clam bake! Oh, yes…hola!

The moment I opened up an invitation to my good friend Rachel’s birthday weekend celebration at her house in Cape Cod, I knew it would be a weekend to never forget. But when the words “clam” and “bake” were thrown into the mix, I had no idea what to expect! This Southern Belle was in for a real treat, and thanks to the loving & fabulous Tovin family and expert Jacqueline’s catering team, my first clam bake experience was nothing short of spectacular!

As the sun began to fade on Rachel’s special day, it was finally time huddle ’round for the clam bake! Between the tables being perfectly set with white & red accents to the appropriate lobster utensils placed at each guest’s setting, everyone was all smiles and ready to kick this lobster shower off right!

Hor d’oeurves were kindly passed by Jacqueline’s catering team, drinks were poured and all of us were in high spirits to celebrate this phenomenal birthday girl! Hola.

signature drink of the evening: dark & stormy

Favorite appetizers to kick off the clam bakin’?:

steamed dumplings filled with ground turkey, garlic & ginger

phyllo with pears & blue cheese

clam chowder

fresh veggies with spinach dip

steamed clams

After the fresh lobsters cried in boiling water and were steamed away, it was officially time to head inside and grab our dinner plates!

There were lobsters galore! I couldn’t help but pose with mine…hehe!

Our plates were filled with…

roasted veggies: golden beets, asparagus, red peppers, tomatoes & onions

caesar salad

roasted red bliss potatoes

corn on the cob

homemade cornbread

Once our plates had been cleared it was time to sing “happy birthday” to Rachel!

And don’t even get me started about her homemade birthday cake…SO yummy!

But it turned out Rachel wasn’t the only one with a birthday in the casa! Three of the dads there were also celebrating their big day!

I couldn’t have asked for a better first clam bake experience in Cape Cod. Not only was the food amazing and a perfect way to celebrate some pretty fantastic people, but it was so much fun being around great friends! Oh, I cannot wait to be steamin’ up my next clam bake! B+H
