Tales of Veggies

Looking through old B+H posts, I realized I’ve never written about my absolute favorite place to go plop up on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a spot that’s bursting with unexpected flavors. It’s a spot that provides lovable food…veggie style, of course! It’s a spot that obviously includes both Eataly {my mothership!} and Eat-ing…at the ultra comfy-fab Le Verdue!

Le Verdue is the vegetarian restaurant inside of Mario Batali’s Eataly at 23rd and 5th, which also has a pasta, meat…& not to mention pizza restaurants inside as well! But this amazing vegetarian restaurant has always called my name to splurge. Hola!

David is my favorite waiter at Le Verdue!

Although their tables are phenom, every time I come with friends or family we always love to sit at their thick white marble bar! Not only do you get to watch the chefs in action up there, but you get to know their friendly staff…and have the opp to order even more food with a snap!

My favorites?

Canneloni filled with ricotta, parmesan and spinach {they used fresh egg pasta and finished it with tomato pesto and fried spinach!}

Sa Gatto de Patate {It’s a boiled potato mix! They mashed it and mixed it with eggs, whole milk, dice mozzarella, pecorino, parsley, sundried tomato, butter, and panco bread crumbs. They they mixed it all together and placed it in a ramikin. They baked it! On the side is yellow and green grilled zucchini!}

I’m always sold on Le Verdue’s daily bruschetta options…so much that I finally asked the chef if I could come back to the kitchen for a sneak peek of how they’re made. Hola!

Eataly’s fresh bread

Sautéing broccoli rabe!

This bruschetta is topped with artichoke hearts, pickled cherry pepper, fresh arugula and dressed with lemon vinaigrette!

Place the broccoli rabe with pickled cherry peppers on top!

One more step: add on the ricotta salata on top of the broccoli rabe bruschetta!

Half & Half Bruschetta masterpiece!

Perfect for those lazy days or before you have to say those sweet goodbyes to your friends and family visiting the city, Le Verdue always leaves everyone on a high {and full!} note. No more tales from me, go try those veggies!
