Long gone are the days of frolicking through Southern fields…but, oh wait…I believe Central Park will do!
With the sunshine peaking, it’s time for Hola to head on up there for a weekend picnic! Our chic picks to snag before the outing?:
-Create the menu the day before! Thinking light and fruity? Or salty and filling? Scoot on over to City Bakery, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s for their daily fresh selections! Not enough time to shop with work? That’s easy! Order on Fresh Direct and have the food delivered to your doorstep!
-Instead of loading up your munchies up in a Steve Urkel-like brown paper sacks, grab some cheap mason jars from a local store or Fish & Eddy’s in Flaitron! Not liking the food options at the store that day? Click here for some simple recipes to throw into those jars!
-Once your food is all loaded up and ready, what are you going to plop it into? Please don’t say a basket…I saw a simple yet fabulous suitcase {find one similar at Goodwill or a local vintage store for a cheap price – “very nice!”} that was spray painted white on Pinterest. With that image as the inspiration, I brainstormed for a bit and decided that it would be the perfect gadget to throw the picnic essentials into!
Best part? Once you’re done with the suitcase, you can blend it into your furniture at home!
-Bye bye blankets, hello cheap vintage carpets! Grab a thin one at a local discount store and you will be amazed by how many compliments you will receive for thinking out of the box…and by how many more people you can include on your picnic! Don’t forget some fluffy pillows from home to sit on! When you’re done with the carpet, throw it back into the suitcase!
-Last thing {besides buy some vino!}! Bring some extra mason jars with you, and on your walk up to Central Park grab your favorite flowers and little candles off the street! Once you set up your camp in Sheep Meadow, close the suitcase, get out the mason jars and place your flowers {and candles come sunset!} inside them for an immediate table!
Who brings an ordinary basket and a blanket to a picnic these days? The sun is out, the weekend is here…it’s time to say “bonjour and hola” to hip picnic flings!
