Did you really think we ended the night with fro-yo with Troy’s birthday brunch celebration the next morning? Um…hello! What are friends for? You can’t leave them hanging when there is much to be done before the big day! After we munched on our “yo”, we headed back to their sleek casa to adorn eggs {blown out and dyed by Troy might I add!} with colorful ribbons to hang on three Easter trees at his brunch! Luckily, we finished in time to make sure our “oh-ho’s” got some beauty rest for the next morning!
Prepping the eggs for the Easter Brunch tree!
As much as I want to share with y’all today about the fabulous brunch that Troy + Craig hosted, y’all are going to have to wait until Friday…it was beyond FABULOUS and the perfect way to end this week of LA posts! But! I will go on and tell y’all what we did pre-and-post brunch on his actual birthday.
Tech difficulty with my digcam!
Before we “spruced and poofed” to be ready for his birthday brunch, I got up super early to meet Troy at SoulCycle for his morning birthday ride! I was so excited to get a great sweat in with Troy before the festivities and to see one of my favorite teachers, Roarke, who recently moved out to LA from NYC to help open up this studio! It was amazing. Their staff even brought Troy a cupcake with a candle on the last song of our ride and the entire class sang him happy birthday! I tried to snap a pic on my digcam…unfortunately it wasn’t on auto! Oopsie!
The brunch was amazing and Troy filled it with all things customized for each of his guests {I’ll explain it all on Friday!}, but the dinner that followed that night really put the icing on all of our cakes!
Troy hooked us up at one of the gem restaurants of LA called Ink {does the name Michael Voltaggio ring any bells from Top Chef? He’s the chef here!}, and if you haven’t dined at this restaurant before I highly suggest picking up the phone to make resos…pronto! GQ even put Ink on their ‘best new restaurant’ list recently!
My favorites?
Vodka cocktail {lime, ginger, soda}
Tuna {dashi sponge, soy-yuzu, pear}
Halibut {asparagus green tea, egg yolk gnocchi}
Pork Belly {charcoal oil, bbq flavor, sweet corn grits}
Sea Bass {cauliflower, smoked raisin, caper, brown butter}
Apple dessert {caramel, burnt wood ice cream}
Troy had the biggest smile on his face, and to be quite honest so did I! It made me so happy to see a dear friend surrounded by all of his favorite people on his special day. Your birthday does come but once a year!
I had the best time meeting all of Troy + Craig’s amazing friends this week. They were all so welcoming to this southern belle {and to the pictures I snapped over dinner for B+H!}! Candles lit up. Candles blown out!
