Instead of a red carpet gowns, we flaunted “sofa chic.” Instead of Moët flowing about the room, we grabbed Trader Joe’s Proseco. Instead of calling in the most fabulous NYC caterer, we voted for potluck. And you know what? Our Second Annual Oscar Party couldn’t have been more perfect…and cozy!
My forever friend, Ryan, and I began the Oscar plans by creating Paperless Post invites and easily clicking “send” – nixing the stress of writing, licking and stamping envelopes! Hola.
Incredibly inspired by Twig and Thistle, we simply downloaded their cute ballots, snagged some bingo cards and ordered pencils off their online shop. I even decided to stack Oreos like they did to match the booklets…easy and hip? I’m down!
We had previously asked our guests to bring appetizers that were related to a movie nominee…making the “spotlight” on them! My favorites?
Olives Arnaud and Sea Salt Crostinis for “Midnight in Paris”
Peanuts and Cracker Jacks for “Moneyball”
“Transformers” Hummus
Hawaiian pizza for “The Descendants”
Between having our bingo cards in one hand and our ballots with a glass of the poison of our choice in the other, we all just had the best time!
Laughing, catching up…in a chic style, of course!
We even gave out prizes at the end to the ones who got the most ballot picks correct…and to those who totally failed on their ballot decisions!
Winding down into the wee hours, our Second Annual Oscar Party was a huge success. The ribbons for the gift tags even tied the party together perfectly!
This year, our party was more than just chatting about the wardrobe malfunctions or that “leg” poking out. It was about the glittering award of being with good friends…who now all feel more like family! Now that y’all is the best award of all.
