If you are looking for a simple and delicious Valentine’s treat to give to everyone from your co-workers to doorman, I have just the recipe {and clever packaging} for you! You all know how I’ve always loved anything from Francois Payard {click here to see when I visited him at his bakery!} and this chewy fudgy chocolate walnut cookie recipe I found is totally a Payard signature. With only six simple ingredients all stirred by hand, these cookies are a snap to make. Plus, for under $15 you can make all 12 cookies and package them up for Valentine’s Day. Did I also mention, they are even gluten-free? Oh yes!

A couple of notes:
-You can cut back a little on the nuts, but don’t go lower than 2 cups. The nuts keep them from going too flat in the oven!
-Use Dutch-process cocoa. Brands like Callebaut or Scharfen Berger are good choices {Whole Foods}.
-A wooden spoon, whisk or spatula is fine to mix the batter.
-Use room temperature large egg whites, not medium {very important!}.
-Don’t add the egg whites all at once, add two at time.
Packaging:
Thanks to Martha Stewart for this clever packaging idea! Place your single oversized cookie in a white CD envelope, attach the Happy Valentine’s Day label and your gifts are ready to give!
