During my high school days, I had the pleasure of meeting Cyrielle when she lived in Nashville as an exchange student. She was upbeat, fashionable and a great girl that I’ve admired ever since. Post getting to know each other in Music City, I had the opportunity to also see her side of life in a prestigious French boarding school she attended called Maison d’Education de la Légion d’Honneur. It was out of this world!
We have grown to be close friends, so when I was thinking about whom to ask to write about ‘their’ day in Paris I immediately thought of Cyrielle. Plus, it’s the city of love! Whether you’re planning a trip to Paris or was lucky enough to be swooped over to this romantic place by your Romeo, I hope that Cyrielle’s picks can give you an ‘insider’ view of how to spend a nice weekend day. Without further a do….
Cyrielle: A Day In Paris
I was very honored when Elizabeth asked me to participate in her nice blog, in order to introduce Paris to Bonjour + Hola readers, whether they already came here and want to give life to old good memories, plan to visit Paris, or just want to imagine how is this beautiful city. You’ll also find below the article translated in French, for those who want to learn or practice a little bit this difficult language. For this blog post, I decided to write about my favorite day: Sunday.
First, let me introduce myself : my name is Cyrielle, I’m 23 and I’ve been living in Paris for 10 years. I absolutely love this city and I’m more than happy to talk to you about Paris! I just graduated in marketing-communications, and I’m looking for a position in a fashion, design or cosmetics company.
Now, let’s start with what a typical Parisian Sunday is for me.
Rose Bakery, 46 rue des Martyrs, Paris 9e. The Rose Bakery carrot cakes are legendary, but I’m crazy about all the pastries in the place !
Among my 2012 resolutions, I promised myself to do more work out. That’s why, on Sunday morning, I try not to get up too late and go for a run in the Jardin du Luxembourg or in my gym club in Bastille.
Generous and healthy food, original salads and wonderful juices and smoothies
After a warm shower, I usually meet friends of mine for a brunch at Rose Bakery or at L’Estaminet des Enfants Rouges. The first one is organic, trendy, international, and most of the time, crowded. L’Estaminet des Enfants rouges is much more intimate, very « girl power », and looks like a hidden treasure in the market where it’s located. Both have delicious food and great atmosphere, very parisian.
Later in the afternoon, I like to go to the museum, like the Centre Pompidou which is like 3 footsteps from where I live, or the Jeu de Paume in the Tuileries garden, which runs great photo exhibitions {Richard Avedon, Martin Parr, or lately Diane Arbus}.
When I’m not in the mood for culture, there’s nothing I like more than hiking or walking throughout Paris, along the Seine, or in desert little streets.
Paris 1er Forum des Images, Forum des Halles
Though, when it’s rainy or cold, I love ending my week watching an old movie. I find them in special theatres, like the Nouveau Latina or the new Forum des Images, a big project of the city, combining a cinema where you can watch a movie or assist conferences about cinema, a café, but also a videotheque. Otherwise, I have my special DVD renting spot, Videosphère, where you can find all kind of movies from the last blockbuster to the old black-and-white italian comedy.
Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris 1er
Paris is full of surprises, and I intend to make you discover some of more its secrets soon. Next time, I’ll give you my 3 favorite special restaurants, these places for special and romantic moments with your lover.
From Paris, with love. Cyrielle
