When I heard that Alex Giocondi, a fellow SU Whitman School of Management graduate, and Chef Joseph Miller were teaming to open up a new restaurant in NYC’s Chelsea ‘hood, I was so eager to see what they had created! Entrepreneurship has been brewing very well out of Syracuse University recently {Dream Water ring any bells?}. But, nothing prepared me for what these two guys cooked up. Let me introduce you to my new favorite go-to spot: The Claw.
Craving the Hamptons? Delicious Lobster Rolls? Look no further than The Claw located on 23rd St between 7th and 8th!
It’s bright colors inside and out immediately enlighten your mood {I love their hip beachy furniture!}, and the staff are all close friends who openly make you feel like family!
When I went into The Claw to visit with Alex Giocondi and Chef Joseph Miller, they were telling me how much they love their Lobster Quesadilla and “Surf & Turf” Roll from the menu. They were even kind enough to allow me into their kitchen and see where the magic is born!
Chef Joseph Miller went to the prestigious Culinary Institute of America {some of his kitchen crew went to school with him there too!}, and his passion for cooking is truly shown through the eclectic food and flavor selections on their menu. All so innovative…and delicious!
The kitchen crew even let me jump into help make myself a Lobster Quesadilla!
I have a new love for Lobster Quesadillas thanks to The Claw. They were SO good!
My favorite part? Getting to watch the chef and his crew make their one of a kind “Surf & Turf” Roll. It was so fresh and the aroma was unreal!

It’s hard to describe what I thought once I took my first bites. The Claw’s roll was unbelievable. It had just the right amount of fluff, butter, creamy lobster, bacon chunks and a touch of chives!
I still can’t believe that I can go right to 23rd St instead of taking a long train ride out to the Hamptons to get an amazing Lobster Roll. The Claw would even have Borat saying, “Very nice…I like!” It’s that good.
