When you move away from home to a large city, your good friends become the ones you depend on, get advice from and most importantly they instantly become your family. Thankful for each and every one of my amazing friends, inviting them all over for my annual Friendsgiving was a must!
Since last year’s Friendsgiving included a traumatizing raw turkey {thanks to Whole Foods…}, I decided to order a pre-cooked and cut turkey from Eli’s Bakery on the UES. And let me just tell you…that was the smartest move I’ve made all month! It was cooked perfectly and ready to go come pickup, leaving time for me to prepare my apartment, fix my bouffant and greet guests upon arrival. Hola!
But looking back at this Friendsgiving, I found it most important to show y’all not who came {although 30 people wined and dined!}, what they brought {cauliflower casserole, brussels sprouts galore and a fabulous cheese plate with chicken liver pâté were my faves!} or what they wore {all looked turkey chic}, but to show you the essentials of how you can have a successful {and impromptu!} Friendsgiving. My tips for a total hit?:
baies candle lighting. bourbon tasting in between appetizers & dinner {a must…}. the big chill soundtrack in background.
eli’s for the turkey. paperless post to make sure all guests are fashionably notified.
barbour shirt. j brand jeans. kelsi dagger wedge booties.
Your friends are always there for you through thick & thin and ups & downs. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have such an incredible support team in a city that can be both very exciting and lonely. This year I’m not only thankful for my family, but for my friends who are my NYC family!
Happy 2nd Annual Friendsgiving! B+H
