Dolce Far Niente: The Sweetness Of Doing Nothing

As I was snuggling into bed last night watching one of my favorite Julia Robert’s chick flicks called Eat Pray Love, a scene appeared praising a daily Italian act called Dolce Far Niente. It translates: The sweetness of doing nothing.

Surrounding myself {like we all do!} with the hustle and bustle called life, I begin to think more and more about the significance of this quote, and relating to various articles {like this NY Times one!} I’ve read in the past. As I was dozing off I thought, “What simple daily acts of nothing do I do? What little actions make me most calm?” I began sorting various topics and products in my mind. All of which make me feel most peaceful and at home! Hola.

Between the stressful times of finding a new apartment and dealing with my amazing roommate {of two years!} movin’ and groovin’ to a new city, it’s coming back to these simple dolce far nientes that make me realize life is still oh so fabulous! What are your sweet nothings? B+H
