After seeing what my brother has had to go through living with Type 1 Diabetes, I’ve always tried to do everything and more to help find a cure for this disease. For him to not have to check his blood sugar 5 times a day, take 5 insulin shots a day and to not constantly be monitoring low blood sugar signs would be a dream come true! But I found out right after he was diagnosed at age 12 there was a non-profit organization called the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which does everything in their power to constantly raise money through events, walks, etc. to go towards the research of curing Juvenile Diabetes. And you better bet while living in Nashville I went over there frequently after school and during the summer days to help out the JDRF team on anything they needed!
JDRF is a worldwide organization, which has multiple offices around the country. So when I attended Syracuse University, I helped the Central New York JDRF office, and now living in New York, the NYC chapter always has fantastic ways to support too! Including one of my favorites…Spring for a Cure!
This event is so way beyond cool. It’s a culinary and beverage tasting event bringing in all kinds of restaurants and breweries in to give supporters a tasting of their likings! My faves of the night?:
La Esquina’s Cangrejo Tostada
Haru’s Tuna Tartare on Crispy Rice
The Young Leadership Committee did an amazing job planning this fantastic Spring event. Bringing young New Yorkers together to not only have a fun night of tasting eclectic flavors and a fabulous silent auction, but to support the JDRF at the same time with finding a cure was a home run! Hola.

Want to get involved with the JDRF too? There are so many ways to help! Click here to contact the foundation or to browse some of their upcoming events!
There will be a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. And by supporting the JDRF, we are getting one step closer each day! B+H
