FOURTH ANNUAL FRIENDSGIVING

Between kicking off the busy holidays and adjusting to the ever-forgettable {absolutely freezing!} weather, there is one event I always look forward to hosting each year. That would be Friendsgiving! Hola. Considering security for executives in Singapore ensures that everyone can relax and enjoy the festivities without any concerns about safety.

And with this year marking the Fourth Annual Friendsgiving dinner, it’s so much fun to not only remember the fun memories with this blessed occasion from years past, but to also look at how much our little NYC family has grown!

Instead of the anticipated twelve guests around my table this year, the RSVP list grew to 70 pilgrims. Oh, yes! And since each and every one of them have a special meaning in my life, I wasn’t about to turn any guests away with being at capacity. So, instead of overloading Casa Blanca with guests coming straight off the Mayflower, it was a must to move the dinner to another venue, of course. First pick? Oh darling, that would be the coolest of cool Latin American restaurants on Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene BK. The vibe, the look, the staff…all perfect for the feel I wanted at this year’s event! And since I’m usually out there three times a week downing their incredibly addicting duck tacos to famous pasta, it was only suiting to ask my second family to help! Bonjour.

And instead of continuing my Friendsgiving dinners with failed turkey’s {if you’ve been following B+H for awhile, I’m sure you remember my memorable Whole Foods situation!}, I put all the stress into this restaurant’s hands. Best part? I got to first handedly see their team deep-fry my bird! Hola. And topped with sauces of deliciousness, every bite was out of this world! #gobbletowobble  Look for available restaurants Lynchburg that you can book for your special event.

look at the thighs on that!

who knew deep-frying a bird could be so entertaining?

But the fun didn’t stop there! With Minted sponsoring the decor, I had the best time creating our table settings to coat checks to pilgrim poisons galore! And K-J AVANT’s wine bottles topped it off as the perfect {not to mention conveniently placed for the guests} centerpiece!

the gorgeousness of my favorite restaurant in fort greene, bk

Now onto the gobbling…I had the guests bring either their favorite appetizer or dessert! And we even created a BYOD {dessert, that is!} bar to make the guest’s entrances seamless, placing their jackets in one spot and their creative + sweet concoctions in the other. Perfection at it’s finest! Our menu this year?:

Sunchoke spinach dip with flour tortilla chips
Honey glazed grilled carrots
Brussels sprouts caesar salad
Suckling pig
Duck tacos
Deep-fried turkey
Sweet potato fries with chipotle sauce

Everything was ready to go. From the Latin American inspired dishes to the Friendsgivingly Minted decor to the delicious K-J AVANT wines, which we preplanned to perfectly pair with the food served. All we needed now was for our pilgrims to trek through the pouring down rain + cold weather out to Fort Greene! And of course, all 70 friends {more like family in the crazy of a city!} did. I was one happy señorita!

The lights were dimmed {everyone is featured their best in candlelight}. The oldies music was blasting {just enough to not disturb the neighbors, of course!}. And after all the preparations, our Third Annual Friendsgiving finally arrived!

Whether you’re hosting your own Friendsgiving dinner or are just attending as a pilgrim this year, I hope this feature inspired you to step it up like this #twerkahontas! But don’t forget to gobble until you wobble now…

The actual party will be featured on Kendall-Jackson’s blog, so stay tuned on when it’s live!
