Born with a livelong love of flowers, Angelica wowed New York City as a founder and chief creative director at Magnolia Flowers. In 2011 she took her brand to the next level by launching Angelica Flowers and Events, and now she carries the umbrella of satisfying the most demanding cliente. Oh, yes…I’m talking the cream of the crop fashion brands {Dior, Alexander Wang…just to name a few} to the most royally fantastic weddings!
Interview with Angelica Gomes, owner of Angelica Flowers and Events:
How long have you been in the flower industry?
Since I came to the USA from Brazil in 1989 and i was only 17 years old. When I lived in Brazil, I always loved to be around nature and becoming a florist was a very easy and natural career choice for me!
When did you create Angelica’s Flowers?
Angelica Flowers and Events has been open since March 1st of 2011. After all the great years of experience that I had, from my very first job to owning my previous shop, Magnolia Flowers and Events for 10 years, it gives me amazing pleasure to own AFF!!
Do you have a favorite flower? Or is there a flower you love to work with the most?
I really love Tulips, they comes in so many varieties, fun colors, and the double ones have a fragrance like honey!
What inspires you when creating pieces for companies/events?
When I create an arrangement for a company or events, I first look at the environment / architecture of the space in order to determine the perfect look that will enhance the venue and occasion.
