Spending some time in Madison, Wisconsin last year, there was one type of food I absolutely loved indulging into…cheese curds! And don’t worry, they were worth every bite of excitement. But being based in NYC, these little curds of joy are not ones I get to see very often. So you can imagine my excitement as I was prancing down the up + coming 8th Street to see a 5oz Factory sign glaring all things Wisconsin at me! Hola.
Little did I know, Dan Schuman founded 5oz Factory after seeing an open opportunity to bring his hometown love of both Wisconsin frozen custard and cheese curds to the city. And being the first in the West Village or the city for that matter, 5oz has definitely set the perfect cheesehead tone opening this January. Why is it called 5oz? It’s in honor of the portion size Dan was accustomed to in his youth, hunny. Bonjour! Did I mention there’s a melt menu too?
if that sign isn’t enough to make you walk in…i mean, yum!
Whether you’re looking for an out of the box lunch {they also have a full menu…melts galore too! I loved “Figgy and Piggy went to the City”} or just want to see what the hype is about for all things cheese curds in Wisconsin, check out 5oz Factory. They have officially brought a whole new layer of cheese to 8th Street!
