An Edible Break

Oh Friday, it’s about time my friend! After a glam-filled week of classic bubbles, downtown concerts to even a Brooklyn potluck, this workin’ girl is one tired seniorita! Which is why I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a weekend filled of low-key evenings, organizational errands and my personal favorite, pampering. Hola. And as much as the spa is calling my name like a Shabby Chic magnet, I honestly would prefer to just beautify myself the old fashioned way…at my casa! Wearing my J.Crew nightshirt, watching a good ‘ole chick flick while saving the “mooo-lahhh” all at the same time? Umm…yes please!

After reading about DIY facemasks in mags + blogs galore, I decided this morning to look around my flat for refreshing ingredients that all have one benefit in common: giving skin a glowing and more purified look. Well, I mixed all the revivers together, threw the entire concoction into a mason jar and then popped it into my fridge for tonight’s usage. Bonjour! I like to call it the Edible Break.

Edible Break Recipe:

½ cup unripe papaya, diced {it helps to dissolve dead skin cells}

1 teaspoon honey {it helps the skin to retain moisture}

½ cup of oats {it helps relieve symptoms of aging skin while helping to treat acne or rashes}

1 teaspoon plain yogurt {it gives my Edible Break a creamy smooth texture to glide on smoothly!}

Blend all ingredients into a food processor until totally smooth. Pour into a mason jar and put in the fridge {for at least an hour!}. When it’s cool and fresh, apply the Edible Break to your fingers and leave on your face for 10-12 minutes. Rinse off with a warm washcloth and top with your moisturizer. Hola!

Whether you’re looking for an easy {and cheap!} way to relax into the weekend or just want a healthy way to become the chicest glowbug in town, try this simple recipe. It’s time for an Edible Break. Until Monday, dear ones…B+H
