As I’m gearing up for a memorable {wedding celebration to be exact!} down in Nashville on Saturday, I couldn’t think of a better week to share my new favorites in the Soul of the South. This week will be filled of all my new “go-to’s” {in addition to last year’s list!} in this hip and up & coming city I love like no other!
First things first? Let’s start with what the South is famous for…some Soul food! With some Southern class, of course. My faves right now?
zucchini, wheat berries, torpedo onions, pecan pesto, pecorino
frico: montasio cheese, potato
house made belly ham, mozzarella, grana padano, oregano, chillies
bread gnocchi, ragu bianco, peas, cruze’s ricotta, pecorino
delta catfish, cornmeal crust, cucumber and pickled vidalia, lemon, mint
springer mountain half chicken, red onion jezebel
goat cheese brulee with local honey
special salad with walnuts and peaches
organic arugula salad with citrus vinaigrette, crispy goat cheese, beets, sour apples, toasted almonds
pan seared gulf shrimp
alfresca fettucine pasta
seared idaho cold water golden trout
housemade potato chips with aioli
lettuces with squash ribbons, pistachios, pecorino and basil vinaigrette
chicken with farm table vegetables
fried soft shell crab
housemade linguine with cherry tomatoes & pesto
4. Caffe Nonna and the future Nonna’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar
housemade vanilla bean cheesecake with assorted ice creams
Caffé Nonna is my favorite spot in town {their Seafood Angelina is phenom!}, but their owner, Dan, was kind enough to walk me through their new place next door after I finished some of their amazing homemade cheesecake.
The place looked so cool! It’s going to be the hottest pizza and wine joint in town opening in a few weeks! Stay tuned.
brown butter almond brittle ice cream
After you’re all fueled up on the good stuff, head on over to Jeni’s Ice Cream. Everything is homemade, but make sure to leave time for their line! It’s so worth it and in a killer ‘hood. Done deal!

Looking for a spot that’s ultra exclusive and a new gem around town? That would be the highly rate Catbird Seat. Only taking resos at midnight thirty days before your desired dining experience, this spot allows 32 guests per seating and the best part is you’re surrounding the chefs cooking in front of you while you eat! Hola.
