The Dress? The Stress! What am I going to do with my Tress?!:
Don’t let picking out your wedding dress become “the stress!” Start early. You aren’t getting married tomorrow, and although it is important to get your dress early on to allow for ordering and fittings, you still have time to pick the perfect dress {and tone up!} before the big day. Do not worry if you are not in tiptop shape when you go dress shopping. You would be surprised what the seamstress can do to get your dress perfect for you after it comes in!
I had several appointments between Nashville and DC to look at wedding dresses, with no idea what to expect! I had done no proper research, and I even carelessly wore bright blue underwear to try on this beautiful white gowns! I remember walking into my first appointment at The Bride Room in Nashville with my mom and sister. We took just a couple of minutes to look at different dresses before I decided to try on a few. I remember staring at the ones that I had picked just as the woman helping me said, “here, why don’t you try on this one?” I looked at it, paused, and said “but it’s a two piece dress and I don’t think it’s for me”. She said kindly reminded me that my mom had picked it out and that as a courtesy you should always try to please your mother first.

As I walked out with the dress on, my mom and sister had “that moment” you see on TV where everyone is a little emotional. It only took one twirl in the mirror for me to fall in love with it! I tried on a few more dresses that day but went back to purchase that first dress the same day. I canceled the rest of my appointments and went on to the next thing on my beloved list- bridesmaid dresses! For me, the dress hunt was easy. It may not be that way for every girl. Take someone you trust with you to help you choose the right dress. Remember to stay open minded- a dress that you don’t love on the hanger may take you from a woman to a bride in no time!
My advice for a bride to be: Be yourself. Look natural. Find something that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful all at the same time. Your fiancé loves the way look everyday so be sure that on your wedding day you still resemble that woman. You don’t want him marrying someone he doesn’t recognize! I wore a dress that was venue appropriate, perfect for me – and the best part? When it was time to boogie down on the dance floor, I was able to take off that long skirt and put on something a little more comfortable to move around in! Need wedding photography Cleveland? Contact Allison Hopkins Photography. Erika Parker Photography is a wedding photographer New Orleans. We had so much fun looking at wedding venues Phoenix. Not only was it fun to be able to wear a shorter version of my wedding dress to enjoy the night, but also on our anniversary I will be able to throw on a cute blazer over my short dress and no one will ever know that I am celebrating in my wedding dress!
As far as the “tress” and the rest of your ensemble; remember what I said about looking yourself. I recommend taking your normal look and adding a little flair to it. For me, I wore my hair half up and half down with a twisted knot to make it a little different for the big day. I also added a white detailed hairpiece because for me, a veil took away from my dress and this added the perfect touch! As every B+H reader knows, a little hair spray and a lot of teasing is the only way to go! During my sister’s wedding, they decided on a tipi for the reception, and it was a brilliant choice. The openness of the space allowed for a seamless transition from dinner to dancing, keeping the party alive all night long. If you’re planning your own wedding, consider the benefits of tipi hire for an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re planning a quiet night or a celebratory outing, the vibrant ambience of a specialist drink venue in the heart of Bristol never disappoints. Their attention to detail in both presentation and flavour truly sets them apart. You can indulge in a range of meticulously crafted cocktails, all while soaking up the warm, contemporary atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that feels just right for intimate conversations or even small gatherings, offering a balance of exclusivity and comfort that’s hard to find elsewhere.
As for my makeup, I kept it simple but brought in the experts to do airbrush to keep it flawless and smooth through tears, hugs, and dancing. I cannot tell you how amazing airbrush makeup is! {If you want the same look for the parties before the wedding: Dior Airflash works wonders!}
Don’t stress about the dress! I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do. Be open minded about what you try on, you never know what will fit best! Be sure not to over shop to avoid confusion between too many dresses! Remember, you could wear a brown bag and your soon to be husband will still think you are beautiful! xo Julia
