Instead of embarking on your regular grocery run {or simply clicking “confirm” on your Fresh Direct order!}, I dare you to step outside your box and venture into one of NYC’s best kept secrets: Essex Street Market.
Plopped right next to the Delancey Street subway stop, Essex Street Market appears to be nothing more than an old warehouse building. But don’t be fooled! Once you walk inside and smell the aromas from various culinary regions, you will quickly agree with me why it was worth the trip.
If it’s your first visit to Essex Street Market, I highly suggest to walk around the entire place and take in all that jumps out. Plus, it will inspire you to create a new recipe for dinner with the eclectic food options!
I loved making new friends – this guy even taught me all about bacon!
My favorite Essex Street Market stops?
They had this guacamole taco that was just delicious!
I could have had about three more…at least my skin will be glowing from the guac!
I was so excited when I found this place. The Turkish owners created this shop in the ’70s and import unique things through their foreign connections!
I recently bought my mom honey from Provence and spices from Morocco. Talk about the coolest yet authentic gifts ever!
I couldn’t help but drop by my friend Roni-Sue! Y’all saw her in another post – click here to see a blast from the past! She was so much fun and took me under her wing to show me all around for y’all! If you’ve never tried her sweets, trot on down!
Although Essex Street Market is surrounded by the hip, it stays tight to its roots of authenticity and just plain good food.
Come on, let’s Essex on in!
