Who puts the Toe into your Mistle?

Before getting super holly jolly for an upcoming holiday party my roommate and I were hosting, I decided to figure out the core essentials we would need in order to put the “toe” into our guests’ “mistle.”

I started with the first ingredient that people would see when they approached our apartment: the wreath. I had found this chic bow with my mom back in Nashville, and decided that it’s color would work perfectly {I promise it looks better in person than it does in this photo!}. Hopefully the final product wowed the guests before they pressed the doorbell!

Another green that is important at a holiday party is the one and only, mistletoe. Although, I decided to step it up a notch this 2011 season and get a Kissing Ball. It was so fabulous hanging in a prime area of our place…crossing my fingers someone sneaked a good smooch underneath!

The last element before dreaming up the decor was the most crucial: what food to serve.

We settled with easy finger foods, not only because of the number of guests we were expecting, but to not have much of a mess post- merrymaking! What we decided on went down so smooth…

My all time favorite munch to serve or bring to another’s party is this easy to make dish consisting of two ingredients: cream cheese and red pepper jelly. Trust me, even a two year old could pull this off! Place two blocks of cream cheese on a plate, dash it all with some jelly, add some wheat thins into the mix, and…hola!

Other {easy to make!} apps we served:

Pigs in a Thong!

Boursin Cheese

My mom’s famous Spinach Dip! Click here for the recipe.

What made each plate stick out were the card holders from Crate & Barrel I found! They stood out from being so sparkly and dashing!

To help the liquor go down right, I included these yummy Delta Cheese Sticks and parmesan crisps from E.A.T. So addicting!

I finally put the icing on the cake with the decorations. Working around empty plates to show me where the dishes would be placed, I added my own Bonjour + Hola touch to make the party extra special.

There was even a Bonjour + Hola banner present in the doorway for a guest photo opp!

After all the thought and work into this party, the most essential element to pull this off was to have all of our friends present. And between my roommate and myself, we do have some pretty fantastic friends who all came! The guests made the party.

To liven up the scene in the middle of the party, I decided to conduct a bourbon tasting {thanks to my dad’s expertise!}. He helped me pick two bourbons that the boys would love, and with the history of them as well.

We started with Blanton’s single barrel, and moved onto Bails Hayden’s Bourbon. My favorite was Blanton’s out of the two, and the majority of the tasters agreed!

The holidays are filled with tons of yummy foods, specialty drinks, and merrymaking. But most importantly during this holiday season are the people you choose to spend it with! My friends ended up putting the toe at the end of my mistle at this party!
