I know, I know. You have heard countless reviews about how fabulous The Dutch is…why would you want to hear anymore? You don’t have to listen, but I’m just telling you that this hot spot is the place to be right now. Did I mention it’s almost Fashion Week? Catch my drift? Chef Andrew Carmellini has done it once again…
Filled with a starched and attentive staff, who wine and dine you with precision, the entire meal is exactly what your imagination may have predicted. One of the most amazing waiters, Christian, was so divine to my family as we rushed him to make one of the most popular shows that I’ve been dying to see all season…The Book of Mormon. You better bet that all of our dishes were out accordingly, and that we made it right in time for the final lights to blink in order for the audience to take their final seats.
Our favorites at The Dutch?:
Start with….
Homemade Jalapeno Cornbread, Coconut Lobster, Dressed Crab {Bloody Mary, Green Goddess}
Little Oyster Sandwiches {my favorite!}
Move onto…
Sea Scallops {Sweet Corn, Bacon, Chipotle}, Steamed Black Bass {Mussel-Lemongrass Curry, Peanuts}, Grilled Swordfish {Summer Beans, Mustard, Pine Nuts}
But don’t forget…
French Fries & Broccoli Rabe {Garlic, Lemon} for sides
Christian was incredibly accommodating, and gave us three desserts to go! What was in our bag?: Fresh Peach Pie {they make their pies daily!}, Sweet Corn Panna Cotta {Market Berries, Watermelon Granita}
But how could I leave out the dessert that I fell in love with en route to the show?
Devil’s Food Cake {Black Pepper Boiled Icing, Fudge Sauce}…it was in this month’s Bon Appetit!
The Dutch is perfectly quaint, but not loud, although it is considered one of the hottest of spots to be seen in Manhattan at the moment. This unforgettable spot is the place to slowly savor new tastes as summer slips away!
