Sit back. Cool off. Make a pop!

On a recent trip to Nashville, my friends and I popped into the locate favorite, Las Paletas, for a refreshing homemade popsicle. After settling back into New York, I was curious as to how hard it would be to make them at home for a quick way to cool down from the heat.

First stop? Williams-Sonoma. They have a fabulous popsicle maker right now, which makes it incredibly easy for you to make them on your own. This is the Cadillac version, but being the girlie-girl that I am, its hard for me to resist the Tovolo Jewel Pop molds to create my own icy gemstone rings too! Popsicles are also just as easy to make in paper dixie cups and wooden popsicle sticks for a fraction of the cost….they just won’t be as pretty. Let the creativity begin!

My popsicle favorite fruits this summer are strawberries and bananas. I thought, “why not combine them for a summer treat?” So, that is exactly what I decided to do…follow my recipe via Williams-Sonoma below!:

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberry puree or juice
3 oz. plain yogurt
1 1/2 oz. honey
1 large banana, cut into 1/8-inch rounds
Directions:

In a bowl, whisk together the strawberry juice, yogurt and honey until the honey is dissolved.

Prepare an ice pop mold or paper cup. For 2-oz. pops, place about 5 banana slices along the sides of each slot, then insert the sticks. Slowly pour about 1 1/2 fl. oz. of the juice mixture into each slot, reaching just to the fill line. Tap the pop mold on the counter top to release any air bubbles. Freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions until the mixture is solid, 7 to 20 minutes. To test, insert a toothpick near a Popsicle stick.

Remove the ice pops from the mold. Repeat, if necessary, to make the remaining ice pops. Makes six 2-oz. pops.

Sit back. Cool off. Make a pop!
