What image comes into your mind when someone says the city: Palm Beach? On a recent phone call, my mom told me that we would be spending the holiday Easter weekend at that very destination. Two images popped into my head: old money and fuddy-duddy. I couldn’t have been more incorrect with this vision!
Palm Beach, which is located about two hours north of Miami, is full of class, preppy collars, and mature individuals who just need a break from their regular lifestyle. A popular destination for New Yorkers with the direct non-stop flight into West Palm Beach, this place is the hot spot to see and be seen. During our stay at The Breakers, Matt Lauer, Susan Lucci, Jessica Simpson, and Pink were there along with Miley Cyrus…need I say more? The best part is that no one bothers the famous, stalks them for pictures, or even stares. We were all there for two things: relaxation and recharging.
We stayed at a wonderful resort called The Breakers, which literally took my breath away every time we pulled into the grand entrance. The landscaping layout of this exquisite property is so magical and out of this world.
I don’t even want to get started on the restaurants down here! Here are my top picks:
I had my first fried oyster here, but the chocolate fudge sundae was my favorite!
We decided to eat here two nights in a row…this hip place is THAT fabulous!
A chef there was even generous enough to show me how to make a delicious tartare dish.
My favorites on their menu, which changes everyday, were the truffle parm fries, wild mushroom tart, and grilled halibut.
This place is ideal to bring your parents to dine out, and the staff is incredible. I had a mosquito bite that was driving me crazy during dinner…Bruce, the most amazing manager ever, ran out and got me bug bite spray before the entrees arrived!
This is my favorite lunch spot during a long day of shopping on Worth Avenue!
Their fried calamari and stacked crabmeat salad are so refreshing AND recharging.
Palm Beach has amazing shopping…one of my favorite words! Worth Avenue is the place to go to shop, and has so many top retailers along this chic street. Although I love the big names like Chanel and Cartier, I decided to focus more on stores that were local, high in character, and interesting. Here are my top picks:
The Church Mouse (Consignment Store)
Well, I can’t leave out Stubbs & Wootton! They’re based in Palm Beach, but in their off season they load up and head to South Hampton. The NYC store is one of my favorites, but it was cool to see the Palm Beach location too!
My beach read? “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell– It’s a must read if you haven’t already opened its pages.
Speaking of books, Susan Lucci was there signing her newest book! She was just as beautiful in person as she is on TV – inside and out!
Cover-up choice? Pucci please!
My favorite part of the trip was celebrating Easter at The Breaker’s Sunday brunch. I had never seen anything so elaborate and delicious before!
Mine was just awful!
I met some amazing people down there, including Ben (pictured above), and enjoyed going to the Buccan or Tapestry Bar after dinner to meet up with my new friends!
One new friend sent me an Easter basket, which was incredibly thoughtful.
This was such a perfect trip for catching up on a good read, recharging, and spending time with my amazing family!
