Oh my goodness! After getting ready for a Bon Jovi event this past week, I couldn’t help but think of a better way to launch my Bonjour + Hola blog than preaching to the choir about what an event in itself it is to get ready for a big event in nyc!
Here are some of my favorite tips to have you ready to walk into your next event saying “Bonjour!” or “Hola!”!!
You can have all the makeup on your face and hairspray in your hair, but if you do not have the correct shaped eyebrows it’s a lost cause. Victoria Gheorghias at the Frederic Fekkai salon in Henri Bendels on 5th ave is known for taking ordinary eyebrows and shaping them into something exquisite. Proper eyebrow shaping enhances facial features and brings out the eyes.
Victoria’s tip: “Don’t wax your eyebrows after age 35. It degrades the skin – stick to plucking!”
Also at the Frederic Fekkai salon, Pierre Pappalardo deals with this Southern belle with curls for miles on a frequent basis, and knows just how volumptuous I desire my hair to look. Even his haircuts are out of this world! Plus, getting pampered with a glass of bubbly at hand?…need I say more?
Pierre’s favorite product at the moment:
Essential Shea – Pot de Creme (the whole Essential Shea line is great for curly hair!)
Pierre said, “There was a natural look on the runways last week for Fashion Week in New York. Waves. Low pony tails with a few strands hanging on the face. Although, that doesn’t mean it’s less work. It just looks less overdone!”
Raffy at the Giorgio Armani makeup counter at Saks is a few steps from Henri Bendels, and trust me it is worth throwing on your sunglasses with a clean face after a Fekkai blowout. He makes your face look as if it was airbrushed and like you’re walking straight out of a magazine.

I’m wearing my new favorite products from Giorgio Armani:
1. Eyes to Kill shadows (#13 and #16)
2. Regenessence 3.R (Saks 5th Avenue was the first Giorgio Armani counter to receive these products last week. Put the eye serum tube in your refrigerator, and the next morning after you go for a long night out on the town put a dime size of it underneath your eyes to decrease puffiness…trust me, this is my new trick!)
3. Fluid Sheer Bronzer (#3) and Bronze Mania (#5) to get the air brushed look
4. Coral lipstick (#510) and Lipgloss (Vocba #1)
These are my three favorite stops before an event…well, besides the Brazilian wax from Bliss or a classic looking manicure – I hope this post helps with your next BIG night out on the town!
